The Long-Awaited Upgrade For Your MNT Pocket Reform Mini Laptop Is Finally Here.
With this new version 2.0 of the MNT Pocket Reform Mainboard, you get a modernized power system adapted from the MNT Reform Next as well as more ports, more stability, more everything. A detailed list of features (incl. changes) can be found below.
The Pocket Reform Mainboard 2.0 is not just an upgrade, it has a lot more to offer. Let's see:
Single Cable Desktop Docking
Combined with processor modules such as RCORE/RK3588, the MNT Pocket Reform Mainboard 2.0 supports DisplayPort Alt-Mode, USB, and Power/Charging over the same USB-C cable. You can also connect a second external monitor via Micro-HDMI.
Advanced Hacking Comfort
Flash firmware and debug the System Controller, USB bootloaders, and the serial console (with built-in USB-UART converter)—without opening the case. All these functions can be digitally switched to the USB-C ports on demand.
Pocket Reform Upgrade
You can upgrade your Pocket Reform or use the Mainboard 2.0 as a standalone single board computer with the new automatic charger module bypass and integrated power button. Add any of our processor modules plus a USB-C power supply and you're good to go.
Note: If you ordered an MNT Pocket Reform laptop after 2026-04-28 and it hasn't been shipped yet, it will automatically contain the latest 2.0 version.

Stability improvements
- New 5V buck (from Reform Next) with lower input voltage threshold
- New 3v3 buck (from Reform Next) with lower input voltage threshold
- Prioritized 5V power for the SOM:
- New current limiter for 5V consumed by USB devices
- New current limiter for 3V3 rail
- Improved signal integrity: fixed stackup and recalculated differential pairs
- RP2040 layout improvements
Quality of Life Improvements
- Displayport Alt-Mode support on charging port with new USB-C mux (for selected processors like RK3588, Quasar)
- New "On" button on the board
- Moved RGB LED indication to charger port
- Through-hole replacement for Micro-HDMI port to prevent breakoff
Debugging and flashing improvements
- Replaced SYSUSB internal USB-C port and jumpers with USB muxes
- Diode for charger bypass (instead of jumpers): power without charger board
- Wired up XSWITCH / FASTBOOT to System Controller, to enable SoC's USB bootloader dynamically
- USB-UART muxable to first USB-C
- SC (RP2040) USB muxable to secondary USB-C (default, for flashing)
- USB loader/EDL muxable to secondary USB-C, bypassing USB hub
