Pocket-sized, repairable, and fully open source: Our iconic MNT Pocket Reform mini laptop is as versatile as you need it to be. Whether you're traveling, attending classes, programming your tools at the cafe, or working at a data center—Pocket Reform fits nearly any space. And if you want it stationary, hook it up to a big monitor and play a video game or browse the web. Or get creative and use Debian-compatible software such as Libre Office, FreeCAD or Krita to express yourself.

MNT Pocket Reform offers benefits that many laptops don't:

Portability

As mentioned, the tininess of our laptop allows for fitting in even the smallest spaces that you might come across while riding the train, sitting at a cluttered desk, or working on your projects in a crowded space. MNT Pocket Reform has a 7 inch screen that offers comfortable reading and typing. With its light weight of only 1100 g it doesn't weigh you down, so you can absolutely get cozy and use it as a sofa computer.

Open Source

Our mini laptop is quite exceptional: It's fully open source hardware. This means all of the schematics and design files are publicly available on our GitLab repository. This is essential for us because we'd like to give you the opportunity to tinker with it, customize your own parts, or make mods. Open hardware benefits us all: By making the documentation available, anyone can contribute fixes, patches, and additional code. If this sounds like you, check out our Community Page on how to get involved.

Not only the hardware is open source: MNT Pocket Reform ships with Debian, a Linux based OS. Currently, our custom-built versions of Sway and GNOME are the preinstalled desktop environments that you can use. Sway and GNOME are fully customizable open source desktop environments and you can easily switch between them. Consult our MNT Pocket Reform handbook for more details. If you're feeling adventurous, you can install any desktop environments supported by Debian.

Modularity

The concept of modularity is very important to us as we want all of our devices to be as compatible and customizable as possible. With MNT Pocket Reform, you can swap CPUs, SSDs, and keycaps, and if any part should break you can replace it with your own or the ones we offer. This is also linked to the right of repair.

Right to Repair

Open source, modularity, and the right to repair are deeply intertwined which is why we're dedicated to design our devices as repairable as possible. Any part can be replaced, either by yourself or by us. We offer 2 years of warranty and you can contact us anytime if you need our help.

Modern ARM Architecture

ARM-based computing has become more popular than ever, and since ARM technology is more energy efficient and minimalist than Intel and AMD, it's been our architecture of choice from the beginning. One benefit of using ARM chips that is rarely talked about: ARM-based architectures allow us to make fanless devices. This becomes relevant if you're sensitive to noise, especially laptop noise. With MNT Pocket Reform, you get absolute quietness: The aluminum coated top case part and the thermal pad on the chip are enough to cool it down.

Choose Your Module

With MNT Pocket Reform, you can choose between two processor modules:

Big on Memory: MNT RCORE with RK3588

The MNT RCORE with RK3588 by Rockchip is an 8-core processor with integrated GPU. This module is the most powerful octa-core Processor Module option for MNT Pocket Reform and the right choice if you desire the maximum in CPU and GPU performance as well as 16 GB of RAM. The CPU features 8 cores: 4x fast Cortex-A76 and 4x efficient Cortex-A55. The integrated ARM Mali G610 MP4 GPU delivers OpenGL/ES 3.3 and Vulkan with the open source Panthor driver. You can connect up to two external displays via HDMI and DisplayPort over USB-C—an ideal setup for playing 3D games, streaming videos, or using resource-intense apps.

Big on Energy-Efficiency: MNT Quasar with QCS6490

If you're more focused on efficiency, both energy- and time-wise, MNT Quasar with QCS6490 by Qualcomm might be your module of choice. It not only prolongs your battery runtime—it also features quick sleep/wake support which lets you pick up your work (or fun projects) exactly where you left off. Equipped with the Kryo 670 CPU (8 cores), the Adreno 643 GPU with OpenGL 4.6 and Vulkan 1.4 support, and 8 GB RAM, MNT Quasar is the optimal processor module for academia/research, writing, software development, and even 3D tools such as Blender and CAD.

For more technical details, take a look at the Processor Module Specs Table below.

Mechanical Keyboard with a Mini Trackball

Whether you like to keep your typing lowkey or highkey, our ortholinear mechanical keyboard provides a great typing experience: You can choose between the tactile Kailh Choc Brown switches, the linear Kailh Choc Red switches (for a lower noise level) and the clicky Kailh Choc White switches for more auditive and tactile feedback. The atmospheric RGB keyboard backlight is customizable both in hue and saturation. Enjoy scrolling documents or the web with our iconic micro-optical trackball and the four trackball buttons.

State-of-the-art Internet and Bluetooth

If people ask you if MNT Pocket Reform can go online you can comfortably say, Yes! Equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and support for cellular modems you can log onto the internet wherever you are. Or you can be offline and listen to some music with your Bluetooth headphones.
